Maintaining clean acrylic paint brushes is crucial for any artist, and at our art school, it’s something we take seriously. If you don’t clean your brushes properly, they can become stiff, unusable sticks! That’s why today, we’re sharing our tried-and-tested method to keep brushes in top shape—even when they’re clogged with dried acrylic paint.

We clean our school’s brushes about four times a year, using Chroma Incredible Brush Cleaner. This method has worked wonders for us! It’s usually the kids and teens (sorry students!) who leave our brushes looking like sticks, but we can usually save them with this cleaning process.

Why Is This Cleaning Method Important?
Acrylic paint is water-based, but once dry, it turns into plastic, making it tough to remove. Using dishwashing liquid can help, but we’ve had the best results with Chroma Incredible Brush Cleaner, which softens the paint and bristles for easy removal.

Here’s where you can find it: Officeworks, Art Shed, Eckersleys, Art Supplies Australia and Spotlight.
