Mixing Blue Grey Paint

You can use this blue grey colour for skies, clouds, water and reflections, clothing, shadows, flower petals, atmospheric backgrounds… so many wonderful things in your artwork.

We use oil paints to mix these colours, but you can apply this same process to watercolours or acrylics. Just be aware they dry differently to what you mix.

When it comes to colour mixing, you don’t need a big set of paints to create beautiful tones. With a few primary colours and the right guidance, you can achieve nuanced colours like blue grey, and fix mistakes along the way. That’s the magic of understanding colour!
